Blog Commenting – Being Effective, This is How We Do It

By On September 26, 2011 • Link Building Comments (5)

Blog commenting, one of our core in our long list of SEO methods that we use in search engine optimization. There has been an argument in SEO forums how effective blog commenting is. I don’t know why people keep saying that blog commenting is not effective anymore, maybe because the no-follow rel attribute hammered the blogs and dropping a link is no longer beneficial for this task. Think twice and read this post.

So why am I saying that blog commenting is effective?

  • Blog commenting sparks conversation, become an expert about a particular topic and be someone who is recognized by the community, both the bloggers and the readers.
  • Blog commenting is a continuous conversation, the more comment comes in, the more people wants to join the caravan. The more traffic goes through your post.
  • Build relationship, when people appreciate your post. They will comment on it and you need to reply and at least say how thankful you are to them.
  • NoFollow or DoFollow, blog comment stimulates click through on your website. “Optimize for the traffic and not for the search engines” – Google.
  • Blogs aren’t blogs if there is no commenting. Blogs are made to convey people’s thought.

How we do it?

In blog commenting, you need to target niche related posts. You can’t drop a comment on a fashion related blog if you’re blog talks about health tips. Why? The blog admin won’t approve it. If comment will be approved, it will be not related to the niche and you’re not going to get + points in Google.

Do it with Intelligence, BE HUMAN ENOUGH

Thank you, nice post, Ill keep visiting your blog, your blog is great, keep it up etc. Don’t be a robot! The reason why blog commenting is successful for people is because they read the post and do it like human. OMG, the post is lengthy, learn the art of reading. Skimming or scanning the post as fast as you can is one key on doing blog commenting.

Google Search Advance Operators

Make sure that you control the search result of Google. Use inurl:blog,, inurl:/blog and input the keyword by using this “” or this [keyword]. Finding list is always easy if you can only master the advance operator in Google.

More advance: inurl:blog “keyword” “reply” “date” , now why do i use the date on searching for blog posts? The 3 months rule for blog commenting, don’t post a comment on blog post that are 3+ months old. Simply because the fresher the blog is, the higher the chance that there is conversation on the blog post, the higher the chance that the moderator will approve your comment.

The Footprints

Blogs aren’t meant to be just websites that are self hosted. You can also drop comments on blogs that runs on a free platform like blogspot and wordpress.

Widen your footprints. You can use footprints like .wordpress, .typepad, .livejournal, powered by wordpress, blogEngine and other available footprints that you can use in searching for blogs.

Link Sniffing, TrackBacks of Your Competitors

You’re not the only one doing this task. If you can see that there are same or almost relevant keywords doing the same thing, track their anchor text and see where are they coming from. This one is tricky but simple though.

STEP 1: Is to find relevant anchor texts doing commenting on the post the you are in. See the encircled anchor text “link building”, its obvious that this people are building their website for the “link building” keyword.

Step 2: Click the anchor text and visit their website. Copy the website URL on the browser and use it on step 3.

Step 3: Visit Yahoo Open Site Explorer and add the URL that you copied on page 2. Check their backlinks and select the links displayed in the explorer and check the same anchor text or their url on that particular backlink. See the image, I clicked the encircled link and checked their link from that site.

Step 4:Check them out, now they are on that blog. Why not join them too! Put your anchor text on the very same spot that your competitor is also located.

There are various way to do blog commenting. You can also try scrapebox if you want something fast. Like what I said, the 3 months rule, choose blogs that are hot and fresh of the grill in doing blog commenting. Get the sucess rate you want and achieve your goal.
