You can’t ignore the fact that Google+ becomes a requirement on getting your website optimized. With the recent roll of Search Plus Your World (SPYW), the importance to connect with people who are related to your industry is now a day-to-day requirement.

Understanding Personalized Search

Personalized search was made to provide personal results that are relevant to the user. Pages and posts shared and authored by your friends in Google+, even youtube clips are now personalized. You can see what videos are being shared by your friends when you are in youtube. This revolution affects all Google products.

Though you can choose which results you prefer more, either regular search results or personalized. Still by default, search results are mandatory personalized every time you access Google. It’s hard to ignore this Google+ and SPYW when you know that it affects the way people search for products and services..  The community of Google+, is reported to be at 90+ million members late January 2012.

Inbound Marketing with Google+

Here are important steps that you need to do in order to get going with Google+

Every Google+ profile is binded with your Google Account. So you need to sign up with Google in order to start creating your Google+ profile.  Of course, completing your profile is important on sign ups.

Authorship Mark Up – Rich Snippet Optimization

Improve your clicks, study shows that rich snippets can improve click throughs. Below is an image that has a rich snippet, I discussed this optimization technique on “Authorship Markup, How It Worked On My WordPress”.

Remember authorship and authority. This is one significant change that you can take advantage off when you are in Google+

Grab a Shortened Version of Your Google+ Account

It’s easier to share a shortened version of your Google+ profile. If you got a shortened version of your URL, sharing your profile page on other social media platforms will be more easier.

Gplus.to offers customization on URL’s – Allowing you to brand your shortened Google+ profile URL – https://plus.google.com/u/0/108751592185232196499/ shortened to  gplus.to/seoteky

Goo.gl offers a shortened version of your profile URL. But it’s more like of bit.ly, a simple url shortener. I just hope that google can offer a feature that allows user to customize shortened URL’s.

Share it Everywhere

With a shortened URL, now it’s more convenient to drive people and share it on facebook or twitter.

Discussions on Google+

Hash tags, similar to twitter #, Google+ also utilize hash tags to directly link to search results around a particular keyword or topic. Just like any other social media community, you need to connect with other people and join discussions.

Just like a facebook page. This one allows you to create a page on Google+, if you are a business and looking to improve your local optimization. A product or brand, company or institution etc. Then Google+ is one way to get your website optimized locally – local targeted search.

To Sum it Up

Google+ is just like any social media platform. You don’t want to go on social media channels just sharing contents and waiting for people to stumble on them and read it. You need to connect with people relevant to your niche, interact on discussions and hangouts – that is why Google+ used the word “circles” instead of just simply “friends”. Google+ will be now part of day-to-day SEO requirement. Do it or just sit on your dark room and die with it.
