Setting up an online webspace is so easy. You don’t have to be that teky in order to setup your own website. Today, Ill teach you how to set up your own website by using a cool CMS platform called wordpress. And if you master this techniques you can have a website as fast as 10 minutes. (Actually 5 minutes!)

WordPress is a project that’s continuously developed by the wordpress community – wordpress.org, by the book it is “A web software you can use to create a beautiful website or blog. We like to say that WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.” -wordpress

The beauty of wordpress lies on the community involved on developing it. Hundreds of developer continue their support by developing all sorts of plugins and themes that allows million of websites to be anything that they dreamed of. So if you want to be part of the growing success of wordpress then join them today!

Before starting the lecture. You must have the following setup first.

Domain Name and Hosting, A domain name is technically your address online – www.MyWebSite.com and the hosting is the place where your file will be kept in place. There are tons of domain name and hosting service providers available online. Just be conscious on picking the best and affordable services for you.

After you have bought your own domain name and hosting, You’ll have to wait for 1 to 2 days for propagation of the website. Since buying a new namespace in the internet is needed to be registered first to the www. authorities. You’ll receive a mail from your hosting service that your website is available now and it includes FTP file access or online access.

FTP is the easiest way to build your website since it allows you to drag-drop files all at once.

Download the latest version of wordpress via wordpress.org and prepare to transfer it to pub/html folder of your website via FTP.

Download wordpress 3.0.4 now!

Download an FTP software like this Cute FTP pro to transfer files. Lost? Follow this guide for FTP software installation.

After downloading it. You’ll have a wordpress3.0.4 zip file on your download folder, you’ll need to extract it. Read what’s inside like Read me and Documentation.

Reminder : Make sure that you are buying a file server (hosting) that allows you to use PHP and MySQL databases. Some hosting sites like plesk are made only for asp pages and windows. Yes plesk has wordpress but it would be more convenient if you’ll use a PHP file hosting service for this.

This is part 1 of the tutorial. Wait a minute, there’s part 2!
